The Smithsonian Academy Orchestra, under the direction of Kenneth Slowik, presents Edward Elgar's Serenade for Strings, Beethoven's Op. 95 Quartetto serioso as arranged by Gustav Mahler, and Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht for string orchestra, on instruments set up as they would have been ca. 1900.
